Alaska Airlines expands Albuquerque service with new nonstop flights to San Diego
SEATTLE— Alaska Airlines will increase the number of flights from Albuquerque on Oct. 18 when it begins daily service to San Diego International Airport and adds a second daily nonstop flight to Seattle. The new route is Alaska Airlines’ fourth new nonstop destination to launch from New Mexico’s largest city since August.
“Alaska Airlines is thrilled to add San Diego to our growing list of non-stop destinations from Albuquerque,” said John Kirby,” Alaska’s vice president of capacity planning. “With our expanded service to Seattle, and new service to San Diego, we continue to invest in the Duke City.”
In celebration of its Albuquerque expansion Alaska Airlines is participating in the International Balloon Fiesta with a signature Alaska Airlines balloon. The Alaska Airlines balloon has launched in the Balloon Mass Ascension and has joined in the daily Balloon Glow. Alaska Airlines has also sponsored the daily laser light every morning and prior to evening fireworks displays.

The new San Diego and Seattle flights will be operated by Horizon Air 76-seat Embraer 175 jets, which offer similar features as a mainline aircraft including first classand premium class services and in-flight Wi-Fi. The E175 features 12 seats in first class, 12 seats in premium class and 52 seats in the main cabin.
Alaska started service to Albuquerque from Seattle in 2014 and now has six daily flights including Portland, Oregon; Orange County, California; and soon San Diego.
