Albuquerque International Sunport Debuts Newly Constructed Pet Relief Room – September 25, 2018

Today, Aviation Director Nyika Allen debuted the newly constructed pet relief room at the Albuquerque International Sunport. Those traveling with pets or service animals now have a more convenient option while traveling thanks to the new room located at Gate A7 inside the terminal building.

“We are very excited to be unveiling the new pet relief room here at the Sunport,” said Nyika Allen, Director of Aviation for the City of Albuquerque. “Traveling can be stressful, especially for those traveling with pets or service animals, so providing a dedicated indoor space for our furry friends to do their business was an important step in making the airport more accessible for all travelers.”

The pet relief room, designed with help from Paws and Stripes, features synthetic lawn, complete with a drainage system, decorative fire hydrant, waste disposal station with sink, and a beautiful New Mexican landscape so pets feel right at home. The Sunport also has two outdoor pet relief areas.

“Albuquerque is a pet-friendly city, and that now includes our airport. We recognize the growing number of folks traveling with pets and service animals, and we wanted to provide owners with a convenient location to relieve their animals without having to exit the terminal,” said Mayor Tim Keller.
