ABQ Sunport Lands Top 5 Spot in Customer Satisfaction
The Albuquerque International Sunport jumped five spots to number four for mid-size airports in the J.D. Power 2020 North America Airport Satisfaction Study, scoring 826 out of 1,000 points.
“We have made many changes to improve the traveler experience, and this year’s study tells us we are making a difference,” said Nyika Allen, Director of Aviation for the City of Albuquerque. “I’m grateful to our team for helping us reach the top five in medium-size airports during such a difficult year for the aviation industry.”
Under Mayor Tim Keller and Director Nyika Allen’s leadership, the Sunport has completed a major renovation, expanded the award-winning art program, installed a nursing center for mothers and an indoor pet relief area, upgraded public WiFi access, and increased traveler engagement with surveys, social media outreach, and volunteer ambassador and therapy dog programs.
“Albuquerque is a world-class city that deserves a world-class airport, and the Sunport is constantly working to get better,” said Mayor Keller. “We’ll continue to make improvements that show off the best of what our city has to offer to anyone arriving or departing Albuquerque through the Sunport.
The J.D. Power study measures overall traveler satisfaction in North American airports based on six factors, including arrivals and departures, security, and airport facilities, including food and beverage. More than 25,000 travelers were surveyed between August 2019 and July 2020.
