UNM Athletics and ABQ Sunport Announce Partnership

Collaboration for 2022-2023 Season​

The Albuquerque International Sunport is now the Official Travel Partner of the New Mexico Lobos

ALBUQUERQUE — Today, the Albuquerque International Sunport and University of New Mexico Athletics announced a new partnership, which includes an advertising trade package and designation of the Sunport as the Official Travel Partner of the UNM Lobos. 

Leadership from both the City of Albuquerque and UNM launched an immersive experience at the Sunport, with UNM video, projections and other displays throughout the terminal. Opposing teams will immediately know they’ve entered Lobo Country as they arrive in New Mexico, and UNM athletes will feel the love of their home state whenever they travel. In addition, fans at UNM’s largest athletic facilities, those watching games at home and visitors of golobos.com will see Sunport announcements and promotional content. The partnership will run through at least the end of June, 2023. 

“We are proud to be partnering with UNM Athletics and to serve as the Official Travel Partner of the Lobos,” said Aviation Director Richard McCurley. “With their rich history of over 130 years in Albuquerque and New Mexico, our passion for the Lobos runs deep and travelers from all over the world will now be greeted by cherry and silver as they arrive to our beautiful state.”

“This is an exciting partnership between the Sunport and UNM Athletics that will let all visitors coming to Albuquerque know that they are in Lobo Country,” said Vice President/Director of Athletics Eddie Nuñez. “We are proud to be the flagship university for the state of New Mexico, and this partnership will help us continue to paint the town cherry and silver. We are very appreciative of the support of Mayor Tim Keller and everyone at the Sunport to help make this partnership happen.”

“The University of New Mexico has deep roots in Albuquerque and like the Sunport, this institution is integral to our culture and history,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “This is a perfect example of how we can work across the community to show the world our pride of place.”
