Special visit delivers gifts to disadvantaged children as part of $10,000 donation

ALBUQUERQUE — Recently, Amazon Air, Mayor Tim Keller and the Albuquerque International Sunport teamed up to deliver holiday cheer to children at Cuidando Los Niños. Departing from its new air cargo facility at the Sunport, Amazon’s holiday sleigh—led by Mayor Tim Keller and special guest, Santa Claus—made its way to the Albuquerque non-profit to deliver gifts, smiles and special memories to some very excited kids. This event was just part of a larger donation initiative, which includes $10,000 to support Cuidando Los Niños’ life-changing mission to break the cycle of homelessness for children and families.

“Thanks to Amazon, the holiday spirit is alive and well in Albuquerque,” said Richard McCurley, Director of Aviation. “It’s an absolute joy to see the world’s largest retailer deliver in more ways than one and make a real difference in our community. We are thrilled to support this heartwarming event and do our part to help brighten the holidays for the kids and families Cuidando Los Niños serves.”

A video of the event can be found here.

“Although the holidays are a busy time of year for Amazon, we are never too busy to help out our friend, Santa,” said Rebecca Butler, Amazon’s Public Policy Director for New Mexico. “We are so happy our Amazon Albuquerque team was able to help Santa and Mayor Keller deliver presents to Cuidando Los Niños, which does such important work in the community where our employees work and live.”

“We are grateful to have such a generous partner in Amazon, helping some of our families in most need” said Mayor Tim Keller. “This donation is another example of the ‘One Albuquerque’ collaborative spirit with Amazon, the Sunport and Cuidando los Ninos to connect with our community in meaningful ways.”

“Cuidando Los Niños appreciates the support of Amazon,” said Jeff Hoehn, Executive Director of Cuidando Los Niños. “This gift will be used to further our mission to ending child and family homelessness.”

Albuquerque-based Cuidando Los Niños is a non-profit organization that serves as a family, helping other families and children out of homelessness, providing services such as high-quality early childhood education, therapeutic services, supportive housing and parent education.
