Southwest Announces New Service Between ABQ and Long Beach, CA
New route part of announcement that also includes increased service to the DC area
ALBUQUERQUE — Southwest Airlines announced the start of daily, nonstop service between the Albuquerque International Sunport and Long Beach Airport (LGB) as well as increased, now daily service to Baltimore Washington International (BWI). Both routes are set to begin September 5, 2023. The announcement comes just weeks after the airline announced plans to bring limited seasonal service from ABQ to Orlando this summer, starting July 15.
The Long Beach route brings the total number of nonstop destinations from the Sunport to 29, the highest it has been since 2012.
“We’ve already had a great start to 2023 and with the addition of this new and expanded service, it’s only getting better,” said Richard McCurley, Director of Aviation for the City of Albuquerque. “The Long Beach route will mark the third destination in the greater Los Angeles area served by the Sunport, which gives our customers more options.”
