Sunport Launches Nonstop Service to the Washington, D.C. Area
United Airlines’ daily route from the Duke City to Dulles International Airport to start May 22,
enhancing connectivity and facilitating global travel options
ALBUQUERQUE –The Albuquerque International Sunport (ABQ) and United Airlines are announcing a new nonstop route between the Duke City and Dulles International Airport (IAD) in the Washington, D.C. area. The new daily service will offer travelers a seamless connection between the vibrant cultural landscape of New Mexico and the dynamic political heart of the United States. Mayor Tim Keller and New Mexico’s Congressional delegation have strongly advocated for the addition of this route, highlighting the significant economic and tourism benefits for the city and state.
“Direct access to Washington, D.C., means more opportunities for Burqueños—whether it’s advocating for New Mexico, expanding business connections, or simply exploring one of the most historic cities in the country,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “Bringing this route back is a win for travelers, a boost for our local economy, and a testament to Albuquerque’s growing influence as a key destination.”
United’s new nonstop service – which marks the Sunport’s 32nd nonstop destination – will begin on May 22, 2025, operating daily and providing convenient flight options for both leisure and business travelers. The airline will deploy its state-of-the-art mainline aircraft (126 seats) on this route, offering a comfortable and reliable travel experience. The flight will provide access to D.C.’s many attractions, government hubs, and nearby metropolitan areas, while also enabling New Mexico residents to connect to global destinations via the extensive United Airlines network at Dulles International.
“We are thrilled to partner with United Airlines in offering this important new service for our community,” said Aviation Department Director Richard McCurley. “We’re looking forward to connecting our passengers with the nation’s capital and beyond.”
