Alfred “Fred” DeGuio has lived in Albuquerque for 61 years. He’s been married to his wife Susan for 37 years but have no children. He was born in Philadelphia and his family moved to Albuquerque when he was five years old. Fred was a proud Boy Scout and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in 1974. He graduated from St. Pius X High School in 1976 and attended Fort Lewis College in Durango but maintained his permanent residence in Albuquerque. Fred worked for American Airlines at the Sunport for 35 years followed by another three years with Alaska Airlines performing most all airport functions before retiring in 2017. He achieved a Private Pilot’s license in 1994 and flew a Cessna 172 recreationally for many years. Aside from tending to his dear ageing parents, he enjoys hiking, traveling and photographing all of New Mexico. Fred has been a member with the Cavalcade of Wings since 2015 and enjoys researching, documenting, and photography of commercial aviation in NM and throughout the US. Fred literally wrote the book on the history of the Albuquerque International Sunport that was published by Arcadia in 2019 and contributed a considerable amount of work for the new Cavalcade of Wings website that launched in 2023. Fred DeGuio has been a member on the Albuquerque Sunport Advisory Board as well as the Art Selection Committee since 2019.
